Hey Everyone, first and foremost, Happy New Year!! I hope everyone had a great Christmas break and safe New Year.

As you can probably tell, this is my first post for quite a while. The reason for that is because my wife and I spent Christmas on the other side of the world.

We went back home to Australia to have Christmas with our families. It was a great trip and was fantastic to see them all for the first time in over 2 years.

But it wasn’t all fun and games.  While in Oz, my wife Sharon had to have an operation.

We have been trying, unsuccessfully, for 2 years now to start a family.  As it turns out Sharon was suffering from Endometriosis.  Thankfully, the doctors found it all and removed it and told us that there is no reason why we shouldn’t be pregnant within the next 6 months! Fantastic news!

So with everything going on and being away for over 6 weeks, I haven’t got much done!  Suffice to say, it’s time to get stuck into 2010 and get things rolling.

And that’s what I wanted to talk about today.

One of the biggest problems people run into when trying to make a change in their life, is taking actionOr, not taking action, which is the problem!

You see, most people have every intention in the world of losing weight, quitting smoking, getting a better job, starting an online business etc. but never actually do the important thing and take action to make it happen.

Far too often they buy the book, buy the course or buy the CD’s and DVD’s, maybe even read them or watch them, and then just put them back on the shelf.  Sometimes they go straight on the shelf without even a read or a look.

Why is that?

These people now have the knowledge they need to achieve what they desire, but they don’t use it.  They don’t take action.

Why?

There are many different theories as to why this happens; fear, doubt, no self belief.

What ever the reason, it’s not good!  So many people have the answer but are just failing to take the action that will set them free.

A close friend of mine showed me this interview just the other day and I thought it was fantastic.  It talks about this phenomenon and how to break the cycle.

Keeping focus can be hard, especially when you are just starting out in a new business and you are trying to learn ‘everything’. While it’s true that you can never learn too much, you CAN try and learn too much TOO QUICKLY!

Keeping focused and concentrating on getting the basics down, and being consistent is the real key. You have to learn to crawl before you can walk, and walk before you can run.

It does, however, require self discipline to get done what you have to get done. Consistency is what will get you there in the end though, so be hard on yourself, and force yourself to do what is required every day!

Are you struggling with YourNetBiz?

That’s right, you read that correctly, sack them.  You have to remember one very important thing – they work for you, not the other way around!  It’s your business and you have to do what is right for your business.

I’m sure you were promised the world when you joined YourNetBiz, but chances are, after you paid your money, you were forgotten.  Don’t worry, you’re not alone!  Unfortunately it happens quite a lot.  In fact, I have had 4 people in the last 2 weeks come on board with me for this very reason.  They were sucked in by the marketing, and then left as ‘orphans’, alone and left to figure it out for themselves.

I’m now in the process of getting these people sorted and headed in the right direction.

How am I doing this?  Well, it’s easy really…

We’ve all heard it a million times before.  But there’s a good reason for that.  Having the right mindset is the ONE thing that makes all the difference in becoming a success with YourNetBiz, or any other business for that matter.

If you ask any successful businessman anywhere what the single most important thing you need to succeed is, they will tell you ‘Mindset’.

You have to believe that you can achieve what it is you have set out to achieve.  If you believe you can, that’s more than half the battle over!  It’s a funny thing, and just human nature, but once you actually believe you can do something, more often than not, you actually can!  It’s sort of like a mind trick you play on yourself.

I could rant on and on about this topic for hours,
but in the end it comes down to this…

If you want to be successful, you have to believe that you will be.
SIMPLE AS THAT.

Start believing or be left behind!

Hey guys,

Do you use testimonials to promote YourNetBiz or any other opportunity or product?

By now you may or may not have heard that the FTC has changed the rules on us.  Well it’s true, and they are – so you better get familiar with the changes!

(By the way, I’m no lawyer, and nothing I say should be taken as legal advice.  Do your own due diligence and do what is right for your business).

If you market a product or service online, in the past it was completely permissible to show testimonials from satisfied customers who have had great results from using your product or service.  As long as you wacked some sort of disclaimer in there stating that you are not guaranteeing that everyone will have the same results, you were in the clear.

In other words, if you put something like ‘Individual Results May Vary’ on the bottom of the page, everything was honky dory.

That was yesterday. That’s history. Today, the rules are totally different.

Here’s what one FTC lawyer had to say:

“…The most significant change to the revised guides is the deletion of the “safe harbour” that has long allowed advertisers to use testimonials who reported specific successful experiences with an advertised product or service as long as the advertiser included a disclaimer such as “Results not typical.” Under the revised Guides, advertisements that feature a consumer and convey his or her experience with a product or service as typical when that is not the case will be required to clearly disclose the results that consumers can generally expect.”

Ok, so let’s put all of that into plain English;

Basically, you can no longer use the testimonials of your greatest earners/customers/affiliates/business partners etc. if they mention ACTUAL results.

In other words;

Say Bob joins your team in  YourNetBiz.  Bob follows your instruction and training to the letter and starts generating £10,000 per month.  Bob is over the moon and decides to shoot you a video testimonial or write you up a traditional testimonial with a nice big picture of him smiling in front of his big piles of cash.

In his testimonial, he says “I joined YourNetBiz 6 months ago and am already making $10,000 per month and I’ve got the bank details to prove it”.

All well and good right?

As long as you mentioned that ‘Individual results may vary depending on the time and commitment you put in blah, blah, blah’, everything was cool.

But take a look at the above statement from the FTC lawyer and note the key phrase “…required to clearly disclose the results that consumers can generally expect.”

So if you want to use Bob’s testimonial, that’s fine, but you then also have to mention in your disclaimer the amount of money that the average person makes in your company.

Stop. Wait a second.

You and I both know what the “average” person earns in any business. Zero or close to it. Why?  Because “average” people are never successful.  That’s why they’re called “average”.

They don’t follow the system.
They don’t do the work.
They don’t attend the events.
They don’t go to the training calls.
And they quit before you can say the phrase “you’re responsible for your own results”.

What does the average person in YOUR company earn?

$100 a year? More? Less?

Whatever it is, you can be damn sure it’s nowhere close to Bob’s results. Because Bob is someone who’s choosing to be very UNaverage in his life.

Wait, there’s more.

The FTC lawyer went on to say:

“The FTC also said that it believes that it is “likely” that testimonials that present the specific experiences of a product user (e.g., the number of pounds or inches lost) will be viewed as claiming that those experiences are typical of what consumers will generally experience.”

In other words, if you use Bob’s testimonial, the FTC is stating that EVERYONE should expect to make the same sort of money with YourNetBiz as Bob does!

Unreal!!

And it’s not just financial testimonials they’re after either!  The same applies to weight loss, nutrition, stop smoking aids etc.

ANY TESTIMONIALS WITH SPECIFIC RESULTS ARE UNDER
ATTACK AND COULD GET YOU IN DEEP S*%T!

So, what should you do with all this?

My advice; Stay away from specific testimonials all together!

If you want to use testimonials to promote YourNetBiz, and you should, make sure they DO NOT contain any specific results!

It’s my understanding that as long as you steer clear of specific results, your testimonials should be fine.

What I mean is, if Bob wants to do you a testimonial, make sure he knows not to include his individual results.  He can say how much he loves YourNetBiz, how much of a fantastic mentor you are and that he really is having fun and is looking forward to where this business will take him.

Things like that should be fine, or at least to my understanding they should.  Someone expressing their feelings and giving character references are a matter of personal opinion and will be ok to include in your marketing.

Here’s the good news though…

People join people, not companies or bank balances!

If you use testimonials to market YourNetBiz, use them to demonstrate what sort of person you are and what sort of mentor you will be to them if they join up.

Get back to basics and provide your prospects with what they want!  What car you drive or what house your best team member lives in means NOTHING to your prospects.  It doesn’t matter what you do or how much money you are making.  What matters is how you are going to help your prospects become a success also.

So, my advice: don’t use testimonials with specific results. However, feel free to use all the testimonials you want about how happy people are with the decisions they’ve made.

And remember to KISS!
